Sketch of the day no 129: Squash

This is a sketch of Organic squash. I’m trying to eat as much as organic and unprocessed food as possible. I also eat a lot of junk so it’s important to balance the two ;p

This is a bright orange fruit plant that grows on the ground level. I have no idea what it’s called.

Sketch of the day no 127: Easter Lily in #Devon

Easter Lilys are one of my favourite flowers. I found this one in Devon.

The following poem by Louise Lewin Matthews captures the spiritual essence of the Easter Lily:

Easter morn with lilies fair
Fills the church with perfumes rare,
As their clouds of incense rise,
Sweetest offerings to the skies.
Stately lilies pure and white
Flooding darkness with their light,
Bloom and sorrow drifts away,
On this holy hallow’d day.
Easter Lilies bending low
in the golden afterglow,
Bear a message from the sod
To the heavenly towers of God.

Bank Holiday Monday at Bampton Fair, #Devon

Bampton fair

The Bampton open day is an annual fair in August to help raise money for local charities. There were stalls with local produces, artisans, artists and craftspeople selling their handmade products and several activities throughout the day such car boot sale, dog show and a bbq lunch.

My favourite was the Teddy bear parachute jump. Your teddy bear can experience jumping off the top of the church tower and receive a certificate as proof! Another fun activity was the rubber duck race, where 300 rubber ducks were released at the top of the stream and the first to cross the finish lines wins.

What a fun quirky day out in Devon!

I like to sketch everyday objects found next to where I sit for convenience. Here is a old rusty metal watering can I found in Devon as I was sipping my morning coffee

Why are there so many scarecrows in #Devon?

Am I missing something or is there something going on with the scarecrows that I’m not aware of? All over Devon, there are scarecrows outside shops, outside houses, and of course in the fields. Anyone know what this is all about?

This furry bean plant is found in the highlands of Thailand. It’s the first time I’ve seen furry beans before!

Croyde, Devon

Today’s weather was about 20c. Surf forecast for Croyde on was good, but better than the reality.  The swell was about 3ft, however, it was very windy and gusty which made the waves a bit all over the place. It could have been worse I guess. There were a lot of people on the beach as well as it was a Bank holiday weekend.  The waves at Staunton looked better for long boarding but the car park was full. Still, it was a good practice day for me on my path to be a surfer ;p
