Currently revamping my website…and possibly my life…

I’m currently revamping my website because I am running out of storage …please be patient if you encounter glitches and please do let me know.

I also need your help. ALL IDEAS on how to improve my website are most welcome. I’m still going to use the free templates so I have to work within the perimeters.

When I started this blog in 2008, exactly a decade ago, I had no idea it would take me here today. My first few posts were of activities that I felt like sharing and my travels. It was like entering a dark room and trying to manoeuvre my way around.

In 2009 my friend and I decided to get creative and start on an art journey. I did a few sketches of animals which ended up on bags that I sold to friends over Christmas. I carried on doing this for a couple of years until it dawned on me that this is not what I was cut out to do.

In 2013, Mariana from FloatingLemons.com challenged me to a sketch a day project. This was the turning point. I enjoyed the daily sketches so much that I still sketch to this day, except no longer daily.

My daily sketches gave me a sense of purpose and direction in my life which I needed.

Fast forward to today and I am proud of all that I have accomplished so far. A successful first solo art exhibition in the bag.

The hardest part was and is always the beginning. Every time I embark on a new project, panic and fear of failure sets in.

My goal this year is to move forward with confidence and faith that I will achieve what I set out to do. I know I will still have that voice of self doubt and fear in my head but I will do my best to silence them.

Thank you to all of you for holding my hand along this journey. For the encouragement when I was close to giving up, for cheering me up when I was down, for sharing in my joy and my success.

I am truly grateful. 🙏🌹❤️

PlayinChoc is the most ethical plant based organic product you can buy

The story of PlayinChoc

PLAYin CHOC is for the ethically conscious. The entire product is organic plant based and biodegradable. No plastic is used.

This is a wonderful well thought out product created and designed by my beautiful and talented friend Maja.

This time last year I got to taste her chocolate recipes from her house and now the final product is ready and already flying off the shelves.

The contents inside the cute packaging include organic vegan chocolate and an educational self assembled eco toy of an endangered animal made from 100% recycled board and a paper description.  There are 7 to collect in the endangered animal series and 4 to collect in the bunny series.

It recently launched in the UK and is available in many stores including the Conran Shop and the swanky the Ned in London.

You can order them online at www.PlayinChoc.com

PlayinChoc: Our Story I still remember the anticipation, excitement and joy I felt as a child when my parents would buy me a special treat – a chocolate with a small toy!

Now as a parent I still enjoy chocolate as much – if not more! – than ever, but have become more health conscious about what we as a family eat. I was determined that sweet does not have to mean unhealthy. My kids (being my kids…!) love chocolate, and while I have learnt about the benefits of cocoa I also know about the nasty health effects of refined sugar. To get the best of both worlds I started experimenting with chocolate recipes at home using only the highest quality organic ingredients, and NO refined sugars. Sebastian, my eldest, my husband Dominic and myself are lactose intolerant so my recipes also had to be dairy free.

It took a while and we had lots of fun taste testing, before I eventually developed a delicious chocolate recipe we all fell in love with. It so happens that it is vegan, organic and made out of just 3 natural ingredients: cocoa beans, coconut and vanilla.

They say the best things are the simplest, and I can only agree.

With a background working in design and teaching, after a Masters degree in Scenography at Central St Martins, I gave myself a challenge of designing a playful, fun, educational and eco conscious toy.

With kids growing up so quickly I’ve been reflecting more on the world we will be leaving to them. I became more aware of the dangers to our planet from discarded plastic waste which ends up in our oceans, woods and environment. This has motivated me to design a series of fun, educational, self-assembled toys made entirely from 100% recycled, biodegradable card – including the packaging. In this way I hope to excite children about our planet through play.

Combining my love of chocolate and nature I came up with Playin Choc.

When trying out my recipe with family and friends it turned out that the parents enjoyed it as much as their kids, so I decided to offer ‘a grown-up version’, the same delicious chocolate without the toy (sorry grown-ups – you get more chocs inside!)

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Dash water: Organic + Wonky fruits and veggies get a new lease of life!

Organic + Wonky fruits and veggies get a new lease of life! I love the idea of this sparkling water infused with mishappen and wonky organic veggies and fruits.
Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a can of Lemon and lime Dash water.

They have another flavour which is cucumber infused water. I wonder what you could mix that with?

Dash Water is pure British sparkling spring water with a twist – artisanally infused with organic fruit and vegetables over 6 hours for a subtle dash of flavour

It’s all natural, with no artificial ingredients and no waste – we only use misshapen British fruit and vegetables for our infusion

Kombucha health benefits

Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of Daylesford organic ginger kombucha which I discovered at their restaurant in Marylebone, London. I love this drink and was happy to find it in London. It’s great for your health as it is a rich source of probiotics and aids digestion.

Visiting relatives on Chinese New Year

image

Chinese new year is spent with loved ones and visiting relatives. I celebrated my own way. I went to visit my parents at the Catholic cemetary. The gates were locked so I watched pathetically from outside. Then I went to the Thai Buddhist temple Wat Chayamangkalaran to visit my grandparents and great grandparents. It’s been a tradition for as long as I can remember. My mum used to tell me to go visit them during CNY. I carried on the tradition.
