Into the forest I go…

I love the natural world and going for hikes in our tropical rainforest.
As an artist, I find much of my inspiration from nature.
Our rainforests are one of the oldest in the world and it is home to many species of plants, birds, insects and wildlife.
This trail is a city green lung which is such a gem and is something I am grateful to have as our rainforests are fast disappearing.
Follow me into the forest and fall in love with our jungle with me πŸ’š

A heartwarming Malaysia day story πŸ‡²πŸ‡ΎπŸŒΊπŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

A heartwarming Malaysia day story.

As we were driving home, my friend noticed a lady standing by the side of the road next to her car and asked me to stop to check if the lady needed help. (I secretly didn’t want to stop because we hear of stories of how it’s a trap where you get robbed by hidden thugs. I still have ptsd from my past experience) Anxiously I stopped the car…
My friend Belinda James went to ask the lady if she was OK and found out that she had a flat tyre.
“Do you want to help her?”
“I can’t help, I don’t know how to change a tyre!”
“I do, it won’t take long” replied my friend Belinda.
“Oh ok then” I replied feeling helpless.
My friend went back to the lady and helped her to move the car out of a dangerous spot and continued with the mission.
I was still sitting in my car with, it was raining.
Soon after I noticed a guy on a bike had stopped and was talking to them.
At that point I got out of the car to start recording. My own bias was what if the guy is going to rob us? I felt a bit anxious to be honest.
As time passed, it appeared that he was genuinely helping to change the tyres and he did an extremely thorough job.
At the end, the Indian lady offered him some money but he refused to the point the lady had to force him to take it.
This story really gave me some faith back in humanity at a time when I needed it.
Thank you Azrin. You not only saved the Indian Auntie but you saved me too.

Happy Malaysia day. To peace and unity πŸ™

Wishing all my Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya and Eid Mubarak βœ¨πŸŒ™

Selamat hari raya

Wishing all my Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya and Eid Mubarak βœ¨πŸŒ™

This is a drawing I did recently on IG live with my beautiful friend singer songwriter Chelsia Ng. She is the sunflower and I am the moon. There is a traditional ketupat, rice wrapped in palm leaf in the background which is a typical dish served in Malaysia during this celebration. πŸŒ»πŸŒ™

This year, out of solidarity, I have followed the Ramadan fasting with my friends, except I allowed myself water as is my first time. The fasting is similar to intermittent fasting. You can eat between 720pm and 540am, when the sun sets. I think if I didn’t have the water, it would have been more of a challenge. Exercising was not easy either, I timed it so that I would exercise just before breaking fast and incorporating a 20 mins meditation session at 7pm.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and heightened devotion and worship.Β  I took this on in a non religious way because i believe it has much to teach. I focused on self growth and gratitude. I enjoyed the experience so much that I think I will make this a yearly practice. It was indeed rewarding and I found a sense of belonging βœ¨πŸŒ™

#Signup4my sign language video challenge for vulnerable communities in Malaysia

Please help to share and spread my message πŸ™

It’s Covid-19 lockdown day 41. For 41 days i have been at home safely reflecting and continuing on with my blessed life, but I know there are millions of people who are not safe, who are hungry, who are vulnerable.

MALAYSIA’S MOST VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES ARE IN DIRE NEED.

Communities that were struggling before covid 19: orphans, elderly, differently abled (OKU), homeless, and refugees, among others – need vital support. Many of our homegrown NGOs that provide care and support to these communities have been overlooked during this challenging period.

Not only are the NGOs facing setbacks in donations and volunteers, managing daily operations has become an uphill battle. To add to the problem, a significant portion now needs to be allocated for additional sanitation, delivery, transportation, food stock as well as hospital visits and fees.

I don’t have many skills to help with the situation, but what I can do is to stay positive, create awareness and donate money.

I urge you to do the same.

Van Gogh in Britain art exhibition at Tate Britain, London.

I went to check out the Van Gogh in Britain exhibition at Tate Britain, London.

It is quite a large exhibition with more than 50 works by Van Gogh but the exhibition includes quite a lot of works of artists who has influenced Van Gogh during his stay in England and who he in turn influenced.

It is interesting to see some of the influences and comparison to better understand his works and his life but there aren’t as many of his major works as I had imagined there to be.

Van Gogh and Britain is at Tate Britain, London, until 11 August
