My Portrait of Nihal Arthanayake for Portrait artist of the week.

Portrait of Nihal Arthanayake

My Portrait of Nihal Arthanayake for Portrait artist of the week.
It’s a weekly live streaming series on Sky arts FB, where the audience is invited to paint along with the artist and submit their finished portraits of the sitter.
It’s been a really fun and enlightening challenge to paint along virtually with thousands of people in the UK and around the world, and to see all the different portrait styles of the same person.

Up up and away

Up up and away

It’s not everyday that I get asked to paint something for a newborn.
I completed my first baby commission a couple of months ago for my best friend’s daughter. I was so excited to paint something for her but was a bit apprehensive as to what but I’m super happy with the end results. 🐀🐭🐀

Portrait of Annie Macmanus for portrait artist of the week

I’m so happy this series on Sky arts is back!! It’s Portrait artist of the week that streams live on Sundays on Facebook.

The weekly programme is of a different award winning artist painting every week painting a celebrity sitter. It’s streamed live and the audience is invited to participate and encouraged to submit their artworks with the #mypaotw

I started this in April when the show streamed during lockdown and season 2 is back and I’m so looking forward to restart my portraits.

Happy weekend my friends xoxo

Virtual gallery of my paintings in 2020

2020 has been an extremely challenging year for everyone. I took this year with all the time in lockdown and time between lockdowns to focus on my artwork. It has turned out to be the most prolific year of my career and the year is not over yet. This year has shown me what I can achieve when I set my mind to it and stay focused on the goal.
Hope you enjoy my virtual art gallery.
It ranges from my Chinese Zodiac animals, to abstracts, to portraits to chinoiserie blue and white paintings.

Vegan breakfast parfait

Vegan breakfast parfait

Sketch of the day no 1434 in my moleskine sketchbook is of a vegan parfait made with mixed nuts, berries and cashew cream. It’s a healthy breakfast option to stay healthy 北
.
Watch my art video as I draw a new sketch today as part of my daily art ritual to unwind and  destress from daily life.
Art is a great way to relax and be in the present. For this exercise, I draw from photo or from an object in front of me. This enhanced the power of observation and concentration. Your mind cannot wander and draw at the same time. This time out allows your brain to relax and heal.
I don’t focus on the end result as much as the process. The purpose of this daily ritual is to allow yourself to draw without judgement and to be kind to yourself.
